    Fossils & Minerals

Amgueddfa Cymru has over 600,000 fossils and 40,000 minerals in its collections, encompassing over 500 million years of prehistory, and showcasing stunning natural treasures from Wales and the world beyond. Fossils show us ancient worlds and past lives, from the first mysterious animals that lived in the oceans over half a billion years ago to woolly mammoths and other Ice Age wonders. Highlights include trilobites, ammonites, ichthyosaurs, giant clubmosses, the very earliest mammals and the Welsh dinosaur Dracoraptor. Our mineral treasures include world-famous Welsh gold, metal ores that drove the industrial revolution and beautifully coloured crystals of malachite, azurite, brookite, cuprite, and fluorite.
